Check the panel; if the breaker trips again after a reset, stop and call - repeat trips mean an electrical fault.
- A failing capacitor. Capacitors give the compressor and fan motors their starting kick, and Florida heat is hard on them. A humming outdoor unit whose fan is not spinning is the classic sign. This is one of the most common - and most repairable - failures we see.
- A blocked condensate drain. Your AC pulls quarts of water out of Jacksonville air every day. When the drain line clogs with algae, a float switch can shut the system down entirely, or water can back up around the air handler. Look for water near the indoor unit.
